Generally, gemstones are made of inorganic minerals with consistent chemical structure.  For gemstones made of organic materials, such as pearl, coral, and tusk.  Unfortunately, they are not as strong as inorganic stones.  The process is also simpler, have it shine, craft, or just hang thru a string to be a necklace.

Citrine is treated quartz, yellow as citrus.  It had been used in the collections of Tiffany’s Co. and Cartier.

Ruby is the highest quality of gemstones and very strong, after diamond.  The basic color is red with various touch of pink, brown or purple.  You can have it for good price in Thailand.

Peridot has a green oily color.  This stone is mostly found in St. John island, Egypt since 3500 years ago.  It is famous as a good match of citrine.

Sapphire is blue.  Some sapphire may produce different colors under sunlights in a room.  Since middle age, this stone is to get rid of the evils and heal the user’s soul.

Topaz has various colors of yellow, green, up to pink.  This stone has perfect cleavage.  Its name is coming from Sansekerta, tapas, which means fire.

Turquoise is one among the first gemstone mined in history.  According to legend, the color of blue and green is changeable when the user is sick or in danger.

Zamrud or emerald is green and mostly flawless.  People mostly put some oil on the surface to increase the effect of smooth and shiny.  The best zamrud is from Columbia.
